The Hyundai Mercury Prize is a key annual event for the music industry that highlights the best albums released that year. The 2018 nominees have been announced today, featuring some major artists as well as some upcoming acts.
The judging panel, which includes Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons, 6Music’s Jeff Smith and recording artist Jamie Cullum, have selected albums from the likes of Noel Gallagher, Arctic Monkeys and Florence + The Machine. Last year’s winner was Sampha for his album Process.
The winner won’t be announced until the awards ceremony on September 20th at Hammersmith Apollo, but just to be nominated is an acknowledgement in itself.
