Film director John Carpenter embodies the idea of a ‘cult legend’. Although somewhat of an oxymoron, the title fits Carpenter to a T. Tonight finds Carpenter playing a live set at Albert Hall, Manchester with samples of soundtracks from a range of his movies throughout his career.

Manchester loves making claim to the nation’s best nightlife. Soon, the city will be revived with students returning to or starting their degrees mid-September and will be throwing parties all over the place to take care of this fact.

On Pride Weekend, there are only a few places in Manchester that are not in full party mode. One of those is Gulliver’s pub in the Northern Quarter. For a few hours on Saturday, the bijou upstairs space accommodated the tame, folky sounds of The Weather Station.
