PARCELS have teleported straight into 2017 seemingly from a date in the late 70’s or early 80’s with their retro disco-funk. Recently produced by Daft Punk these guys are one’s to watch and check out live this summer.
Parcels are Louie Swain (keyboards), Patrick Hetherington (keyboards), Noah Hill (bass), Anatole “Toto” Serret (drums), Jules Crommelin (guitar). Hailing from Byron Bay, Australia they formed in their final year of high school. In April 2015 they packed their bags and decamped to Berlin, all five of them sharing a one bedroom apartment.
The group wear their musical influences on their sleeves stating that bands such as Chic and the Bee Gees and a love of early 80s pop and funk have influenced their live sound. Living in Berlin within its strong techno scene has also influenced their music, especially the recordings, which are more electro than their live performances. French label Kitsune signed the group and earlier this year released a 6 track EP – ‘Hideout’.
More recently the band shared their latest offering ‘Overnight’ which is a dreamy 70’s disco track impressively co-written and produced by Daft Punk. Parcels are definitely our pick of the crop for best band to see live this summer. Check out their European 2017 tour dates below.
